Beauty Month at Oprah

It's beauty month at Oprah's and this is what she has to say in her magazine...

"I believe there's beauty in you. It seems to me that everybody has at least one feature worth feeling good about. It might be the way your hair shines, the color of your eyes, the sway of your hips, or the curve of your shoulders. Chances are it's something you don't even realize, but I stand by my statement - I think there's beauty in you..."

Martha Beck Gives Us a Lesson on Self-Appreciation

I just read an article at Oprah's website by Martha Beck. She gives us some pointers on how to appreciate ourselves more. Many of us don't love the way we look and it can be very detrimental to our well-being and affect us emotionally, physically and socially. It's time to let go of that idea that other people are more beautiful than you. I recommend reading the article:

Caught In a Fashion Rut

I've been caught in a fashion rut. I look into my closet and notice that I only wear about 20% of the clothing in it. What's a girl to do? How can someone who talks and writes about fashion everyday be in a "fashion rut?" All I want to do is throw on my black and white striped shirt from The Gap and a pair of sweats and call it a day.
What do you do when you're in a rut?

You go shopping....

And found this JLo jacket....ooohh...I don't know about you, but it's still cold here in San Diego! When will it be spring?

What Does Beauty Mean To You?

Jenna made a comment on The Runway Scoop, which brought me to her website, Passion 4 Fashion. Jenna, being the prolific poet that she is, shared her thoughts on beauty and I wanted to share them with you too:

BEAUTY. What is the definition? How is beauty truly measured? What gives way to a parting of signified balloons?
BEAUTY IS FREEDOM. With death of slavery and broken chains, beauty is invited, giving new life to creativity
BEAUTY IS PEACE. When the time fists are used only to open and greet with a handshake. When happiness is portrayed in every face.
BEAUTY IS LOVE. Whether romantic or paternal. A simple locking of eyes instills strength, faith and utter uncontrollable happiness.
BEAUTY IS INDIVIDUALITY. When one is confident in who they are and can begin their own path and set their own priorities.
BEAUTY IS LIFE. Life is the most fabulous definition of beauty. From a newborn baby, a spiritual rebirth, to a simple spring flower in bloom. Life is a chance to live and an opportunity to reveal colors and challenge the world ahead.

Beauty Quotes

Here are some great beauty quotes I came across at Quote Garden:

"That which is striking and beautiful is not always good, but that which is good is always beautiful." ~Ninon de L'Enclos

"Some people, no matter how old they get, never lose their beauty - they merely move it from their faces into their hearts." ~Martin Buxbaum

"Beauty... when you look into a woman's eyes and see what is in her heart." ~Nate Dircks

Jada, Serena, and Venus Give Advice

It's true that most people judge other people by the clothes they wear or how they look, but if you exude good energy and positive vibes it won't really matter what you look like. They are forced to love you because of your loving spirit.

It all starts with loving yourself first. Oprah had a great show yesterday when she brought Serena and Venus Williams as well as Jada Pinkett-Smith to talk about dating, sex, self-esteem and confidence.

"Growing up we had a lot of insecurities," Serena says. "Even now we still have so many insecurities. It's not like we're perfect. … That's why we wanted to get together and write a book for teenagers who deal with the same issues. [We wanted] to let them know that celebrities and stars, not only just us, but everyone has these issues as well."

We've all had to deal with our own insecurities, myself included. I've been through abusive relationships and negative self-talk, but have come out a survivor! It's overcoming those hurdles that make you a stronger woman...

It's been about a week since I've been writing at "The Runway Scoop" and I'm learning some great things about the fashion industry! Like I said in previous post, I will still keep this blog, but it will be more focused on discovering and developing your inner beauty rather than actual fashion trends, news, etc. You'll be able to find more of this type of fashion commentary at The Runway Scoop.

So, join me on yet another blog journey in the fashion industry and the fashion world!

"You're Beautiful.."

I'm in love with this song. If you're not feeling good about yourself - just through in this CD by James Blunt - you'll be feeling beautiful in no time... :) Oprah interviewed him yesterday on her show and I found out that his album is #1 on the Billboard Music charts!

Why Women Cry

I just came a very inspirational post at someone's blog at MSN:

A little boy asked his mother "Why are you crying?"

"Because I'm a woman," she told him.

"I don't understand," he said.

His mum just hugged him and said, "And you never will"

Later the little boy asked his father, "Why does mother seem to cry for no reason?"

"All women cry for no reason," was all his dad could say.

The little boy grew up and became a man, still wondering why women cry.

Finally he put in a call to God; and when God got on the phone, he asked, "God, why do women cry so! Easily?"

God said: "When I made the woman she had to be special. I made her shoulders strong enough to carry the weight of the world;yet, gentle enough to give comfort. I gave her an inner strength to endure childbirth and the rejection that many times comes from her children. I gave her a hardness that allows her to keep going when everyone else gives up, and take care! of her family through sickness and fatigue without complaining. I gave her the sensitivity to love her children under any and all circumstances, even when her child has hurt her very badly. I gave her strength to carry her husband through his faults and fashioned her from his rib to protect his heart. I gave her wisdom to know that a good husband never hurts his wife, but sometimes tests her strengths and her resolve to stand beside him unfalteringly! And finally, I gave her a tear to shed. This is hers exclusively to use whenever it is needed."

You see: The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair! The beauty of a woman must be seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart * the place where love resides."

Please send this to all the beautiful women you know today in celebration of Women's History Month. If you do, something good will happen. You will boost another woman's self-esteem!

Every Woman is Beautiful.

Take Care of Your Inner Beauty

By Hifzur Rehman

Let us talk about beauty from a different angle!

We have our own criteria for judging the beauty of a woman. We look the beauty of a lady from a certain angle and then pass the remarks whether she is beautiful or not. It’s not fair. Let me tell every woman that she is unique and beautiful.

The business of beauty is thriving everywhere. Women are spending much of their time and money on buying beauty products. Even in the third world countries, women living below the poverty line, buy cheap and substandard beauty products, which give more harm to their skin than good.

It’s the fundamental right of every woman to look beautiful. Every woman wants to listen the sweet words “you are beautiful”. But the beauty of a woman is far from her looks or figure. Physical beauty is only one aspect while a beautiful charming personality is a complete blend of many fine characteristics such as good manners, etiquette, behavior, smile, intelligence, sense of humor, social and family values etc., all make a woman look beautiful and attractive.

Didn’t you know that there is a marked difference between a carefully hand woven expensive Persian carpet and a cheap machine made carpet. Both of these cannot be equated. A beautiful woman is like an elegant hand-knotted Persian carpet. Each and every silky, colorful thread of her character, nicely woven into her personality, gives a woman an everlasting beauty and attraction.

Looks are very important indeed but the characteristics of a person are much more important. Besides taking care of your physical beauty, why not think of improving your inner beauty. The beauty which everyone admires is becoming a rare commodity these days. While on your way to a beauty parlor keep on thinking ways of improving your inner beauty.

Take care of yourself and take care of your inner beauty. No doubt you are a beautiful person.

Hifzur Reman is the author of popular articles on self improvement. He is also the editor of his website: which is a great source of self-improvement related information on various aspects of life. A visit to his site will open the doors of happiness for you!

Discovering Your Inner Beauty

I started this blog in the hopes that women all over the world can begin to discover their inner beauty. I began to realize that I started to incorporate outer beauty and fashion into the blog and lost focus of the mission.... Although I will still talk about beauty and fashion, I want to really start focusing on helping you feel good about yourself, help increase your self-esteem, give you more confidence, start eating healthier and exercising more.

What really counts is the inside - where your heart is - and your pure essence....

So, let's begin the journey...
