Wedding? What Wedding? Just Give Me That Wedding Ring!

Diamond Wedding BandWe're in the middle of wedding season and many women are now either in their honeymoon phase or just getting the finishing touches ready for the big day. Many brides worry over every little detail, but for me - as long as the wedding rings are there and my honey is there to say, "I do", then nothing else really matters that much.

And speaking of wedding rings, who knew that they could actually be so fashionable? I was browsing the diamond wedding rings over at Goldenmine and as I scanned their selection of gorgeous diamond wedding bands, it dawned on me that perhaps I don't need such a fancy wedding after all...Give me one of these wedding bands and I'll be a happy wife for life ;) I've fallen in love with this 14K White Gold Diamond Eternity Ring pictured here. This is definitely a piece that you'd want to keep forever and pass it down as an heirloom to your kids.

You could spend hours on end browsing the GoldenMine website trying to decide what wedding band you would want! It's pretty mind-boggling! After shopping for a wedding ring, I don't think I would want to do anything else for awhile...

Tips For Looking Young and Healthy

I just came across an article written by Dr. Mary E. Waters which offers the Top Seven Tips on Keeping Your Skin Looking Young and Healthy. Dr. Waters has some good tips and it's a good read!

As for me, everyday I become more and more aware of my health and eating healthy. I think it is really important to have a healthy diet and to exercise at least three times a week.

Here are a couple tips I would add to Dr. Waters list:
  • Don't drink excessively - drinking can cause liver damage. I don't know what kind of damage it can do to the skin - if any - but drinking is just bad period.
  • Meditate morning and night - overall, meditation puts you in a more relaxed and healthy mind state. Your face will be more relaxed and radiant!

Pearl Jewelry - Always a Classic

Tahitian Pearl NecklaceIf there’s one type of jewelry that every fashionista should have in her jewelry collection, it’s pearl jewelry. Whenever I think of pearl jewelry, in my mind I immediately picture Audrey Hepburn in the movie, Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

You don’t necessarily have to go with the typical white pearl necklace. There are many types of pearl necklaces including:
    • Akoya pearl necklaces - these are spherical shaped pearls with colors ranging from white to ivory white - although you will find them in pastel colors like yellow, pink and blue
    • Black pearl necklaces - you can find black pearl necklaces in a variety of styles and price ranges. When I think of black pearl necklaces, I picture warm and exotic places…
    • Tahitian pearl necklaces - my personal favorite! Tahitian pearl necklaces are totally cream-of-the-crop when it comes to pearl necklaces. It’s color is completely natural.
One website I’ve found that is a great resource for pearl necklaces is Sunshine Pearls. Sunshine Pearls has a wide selection of pearls including my favorite Tahitian pearl necklaces. I get goosebumps just looking at their Tahitian pearl necklaces.

The website is easy to navigate and if you’re doing any research about pearls and want to learn more about them, they provide a number of articles including how to care for pearls and how to choose a pearl necklace.

Also, for those of you who love pearls and want to promote Sunshine Pearls on your blog or website, the company also has an affiliate program where you can earn commissions for recommending their products.

    Diamond Dreams

Whether it’s work, life or fashion, I’ve never been one to go the traditional route. I don’t follow herds - especially in fashion. I’ve always believed that fashion is an expression of who you are and not what society says you should look like.

Prime example…one day a friend of mine asked me what kind of engagement ring I would want when I got married and I told her I wanted a pink diamond engagement ring.

    Pink?Jennifer Lopez

I think it was J.Lo that turned me onto pink diamonds. Before that I never even knew diamonds came in a wide range of colors. Did you know that you can find diamonds in steel gray, blue, yellow, orange, red, green, pink to purple, brown, and black? With all those different colors, why would you want a plain ole white ring? Oh, ok, I guess I would accept a white diamond ring if it was at least two carats - no less ;)

And speaking of diamonds, Russell Simmons and Kimora Lee recently collaborated and started the Diamond Empowerment Fund (D.E.F.TM). The mission of the D.E.F.TM. is to raise money for the development and empowerment of people and communities in Africa where diamonds are a natural resource. The D.E.F.TM is a non-profit international organization, established by individuals and businesses in the diamond industry and others who are committed to empowerment in Africa.

What Do You Look For When You Buy Designer Sunglasses?

    Marc Jacobs Side Stripe Sunglasses

Summer is here and you know what that means! It’s sunglasses season, ladies! Well, actually sunglasses are worn all-year long here in San Diego…

Now, typically I go for the cheap-o glasses, you know, the glasses you find at your local flea market. My last pair came from Claire’s and I get compliments on them all the time. However, this year I think I’m going to splurge and get a pair of designer sunglasses.

For me, a pair of top designer sunglasses is not so much about “status”. I wouldn’t buy them simply for the sake of looking cool. It’s all about quality and design.

If you know me and have been reading this blog for some time, you know that “looking cool” is about exuding confidence in what you’re wearing ;)

"New Beauty" Magazine and Thoughts on Self-Esteem

When I was at the bookstore the other day I came across a magazine titled New Beauty. It claims to be “The World’s Most Unique Beauty Magazine”, but what I didn’t realize was that it is a magazine that covers the plastic surgery and cosmetic surgery industries. It seems like 80% of the magazine is filled with ads for anti-aging products - some of which I’m a little iffy about.

I did come across an interesting statistic in the magazine, however. It stated:

98% of patients said that plastic surgery had improved their self-esteem

I can’t argue that looking better definitely helps you to feel better about yourself, but I do feel that many people are trying too hard to find a solution outside of themselves - when in actuality higher self esteem should start with your spirit and being more in tune with your own individual power. We’re constantly searching for that “quick fix”, but never realizing that the quick fix could be detrimental to our future health, beauty and overall well-being.

On the other side of the coin, I can see that plastic surgery has its pluses - especially for women who have lost a great deal of weight and need to get rid of that extra skin or women who have lost their breasts from breast cancer.

    What are your thoughts?

    Read the Beauty Carnival!

For great beauty recommendations and tips, I suggest reading the Beauty Carnival going on right now over at the Tonic Gifts blog! I submitted this post for the Carnival: Looks Are Nothing Without Spirit.

While reading the Beauty Carnival, I discovered Blog Fabulous where Tracee recommends Revlon Colorstay Always on Color nailpolish. I've always had issues with painting my nails because they end up chipping within two days of putting nailpolish on - even when I put a top coat on.

    “Looks Are Nothing Without Spirit”

That is the tag line for the new fragrance by Antonio Banderas. It’s called “Spirit” and although ISpirit Perfume by Antonio Banderas, 3.4 oz Eau De Toilette Spray for Women have yet to smell it, that tag line appeals to my inner beauty.

It’s true that looks are nothing without your inner spirit shining through. It’s your essence and your personality that makes you beautiful - not the clothes or makeup that you wear.

Many of us envy other women who we perceive as being “perfect”. They have the perfect nose, the flawless face….they get to wear all the finest clothing. Little do we know that some of these women are total bitches who care about nothing and nobody but themselves. It’s almost a waste of outer beauty, ya think?

So, you’re probably wondering, Well, how do I get to have this inner beauty?

    Here’s my advice…

    * Stay true to yourself. What I mean by this in terms of fashion and beauty is that you wear clothing and makeup that you like and feel comfortable with - not what a magazine tells you to wear. Just because Lindsay Lohan wears Chanel doesn’t mean that you have to.

    * Smile and be happy. This may take a bit of work on your part - especially if you are depressed or angry inside. Make an effort to say positive affirmations to yourself in the morning after you wake up. We are all meant to be happy! Surround yourself with positive people and they’re energy will start to rub off on you…

    * Be confident. All of us have our own insecurities. Maybe we think that we’re just not as pretty as so and so or maybe we feel that people will make fun of what we’re wearing. When you stand up tall and feel comfortable in your own skin - that’s what people really pay attention to. People are attracted to people who have confidence in themselves and don’t worry about what other people think.
