Choose Love and Care For Your Body

What are your initial thoughts when you look at yourself first thing in the morning? Many of us go immediately to those parts of the body that we think aren't so flattering. I used to look in the mirror and feel disgusted with my hair.

Sally McGraw of Already Pretty wrote a must-read post about Self Care and Self Love that just about every woman can relate to.

Nowadays I look in the mirror and this is the first thing I say, "You are beautiful!" And I say this before I even comb my wild-looking hair or brush my teeth! I don't own a scale so I have no idea how much I weigh. I don't have any inclination on finding out how much I weigh because I know that would make me focus my attention on it.

Many personal development teachers will tell you, "What you focus on expands." That couldn't be more true for our bodies as well. Everything does start in the mind. You always have the choice to love and care for your body. If you think and believe you're beautiful, those thoughts will manifest into the physical form.

I'm reminded me of a movie titled "What the Bleep Do We Know?!" where the main character goes through this transformation from self-loathing and depression to self-love. There's a part in the movie where she's in her bathtub and she takes a pencil eyeliner and starts drawing hearts all over her body. Sounds crazy to some, but a simple act like that can make a difference in how you feel about yourself!

The greatest love of all is the love you have for yourself ;)
