Support the Beauty and Fashion Industries

There are alot of people hurting right now. Our economy is struggling and people seem to be holding on tighter to their cash reserves. I personally don't think it's healthy to hold on so tight to your money. It creates scarcity thinking. You should be thinking that money will always flow to you and that there's plenty of money to go around.

So, what does all this have to do with beauty and fashion?

Well, plenty.

I'm sure many of you have been reading and hearing the news about beauty and fashion companies downsizing or closing up shop. These are the companies that us beauty junkies have supported for many years. There was some news going around about Stila possibly closing shop, but it looks like the company was bought out and will continue with new owners.

I think it's time to whip out the cash...or even credit cards...and start supporting those companies that have provided great beauty and fashion products or services to us. Create good vibes and get the flow of wealth going around!

I normally don't encourage this, but if you're not already heavily in debt, apply for a credit card and buy those things that you've needed for awhile. If you have cash to spend - more power to you! Maybe you need a new pair of work shoes or a new suit for job interviews. Do something to instill trust in the banks so that they'll continue to offer people credit and get the economy in a good flow again. Here is a credit card comparison.

I'm not saying that you should go on a crazy spending spree and buy things you absolutely don't need! I'm not saying you should put yourself in even more debt just to keep up with the latest trends. However, just do a little prosperity spending to get the flow of money going and to support our favorite beauty and fashion companies. After all, they help us with our outer beauty!

Beauty Quote of the Week: Beauty Is Not in the Face...

Inside a Rose“Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart”
-- Kahlil Gibran

Have you ever met someone that had this certain aura about them that made him/her so attractive?

You were captivated by their presence, but yet you couldn't quite pinpoint what it was that drew you to him/her...

Yes, the outer beauty was there, but that inner light was shining so bright that it mesmerized everyone in its path. This person is so loving, so giving, so forgiving, and so humble.

Now that, my friends, is true beauty.

What I'm Loving Right Now: Pilates

On a recent trip to Borders bookstore I picked up a video with an intention of toning my abs. I'm starting to feel a muffin top growing! Besides that, I want to look better in my swimsuit this summer ;)

The video I bought is Gaiam's "Pilates: Abs Workout" and I'm telling you right now that my body is really feeling it! Just from one session I'm already feeling the muscles in my body growing stronger.

If you're wondering what the benefits of pilates are, check out this article on WebMD, "Pilates Exercises and Workout Benefits". Here is another good article, "6 Good Reasons to Try Pilates".

I've been slacking on my toning and stretching exercises although I still walk a few miles each week. The walking hasn't done much for my tummy, so I'm setting a goal to do the pilates workout at least 3 times a week. Pilates is something completely new to me, so I'm definitely motivated to keep going. I tend to get very bored doing the same exercise routine. When it comes to exercise, mixing it up is good.

Hopefully in a couple months I'll feel confident enough to wear the bikini at the beach!

And speaking of bikinis, I really like this BCBGMAXAZRIA Sunflower Bikini Swimsuit! ($148 at SmartBargains.com)

Is shipping available on that body as well?

YOU-nique Jewelry: Little Details Make a Difference

Murano Glass Beaded EarringsLittle details make a difference...

That's the philosophy I live by. It's a philosophy that's important in fashion as well. And when I talk about little details, I mean accessories - especially jewelry.

What better way to make a fashion statement than with unique handmade jewelry?

It's been awhile since I've made any beaded jewelry, but I've been really inspired by all the new spring colors. If you have an idea for a design, I can create a custom-made piece just for you!

Most people forget the clothes you wear, but they don't forget a unique piece of jewelry ;)

Bulldog T-Shirts: Turning Passion Into Profit

On a recent trip to the Glendale Galleria in L.A., I wandered into the fragrance department in Nordstrom...

On that particular day there happened to be some kind of fragrance festival and the sales floor was packed full of customers, vendors, and salespeople. As I was enjoying all the different displays, I came across the colorful Kenzo table.

I started talking to the Kenzo rep, Steven Sullivan, and told him how I really like the Kenzo RYOKO Eau de Toilette that I have. I also told him about this blog. He then told me about his side business, Love a Bull.

As an entrepreneur, I can appreciate people who turn their passions into a business. Steven's love for English bulldogs has led him to create these nice, quality products for other bulldog lovers.

Check out these cute bulldog tops...

Bulldog t-shirts

What bulldog lover wouldn't love that?

You also have to love that Steve donates a proceeds of their sales to the Southern California Bulldog Rescue, an organization that rescues, rehabilitates, and helps bulldogs find homes.

Eyeshadow Review: Eye Majic Instant Eyes

As an artist, I love mixing colors, however, ironically I'm not much into mixing colors when applying eyeshadow. I know I've mentioned before that I tend to stick to the same old boring eyeshadow colors.

I'm slowly but surely coming out of my makeup rut and trying different products. When I was contacted by the PR people that represent Eye Majic, I thought that this would be a great opportunity to explore my "makeup horizons" and share a review of this innovative makeup product.

The Eye Majic Instant Eyes color combinations are very simple to use. They're perfect for those people like myself who don't have the patience or time to figure out which eyeshadow colors to put together. I received a sample box with the different types of color combinations that Eye Majic offers.

Eye Majic eyeshadow colors

The first thing you do is apply the color to the top of your eyelid. Next, you slide the color across your eyes. Depending on the shape of your eyelid, you may or may not be able to get the color to go exactly where you want. Click here to visit the Eye Majic website for more detailed instructions.

After you've applied the eyeshadow, you take a brush (or the reverse side of the strip) and start blending the colors together...and Voila! Fantastic eyes in less than one minute!

If you tend to have a heavy hand and like alot of color when applying eyeshadow, you may not like this product. Some of the color faded away into the brush as I was blending - which was fine with me because I like it that way.

If you've tried Eye Majic's eyeshadow, I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Tory Burch Arm Candy: Ella Nylon Tote

Every now and then a girl needs a little arm candy - a handbag that expresses her personality. This arm candy doesn't necessarily have to be brand name or created by a big-name fashion designer, but it's a little boost to the ego to have a quality handbag. Besides, I'm with the philosophy that a handbag can be an investment.

This brown and hot pink patent Tory Burch tote brings to mind a fancy chocolate bar. It's the type of tote you'd take with you on a trip to Miami or somewhere tropical...Use it to carry a steamy romance novel, a rockin' bathing suit, and your laptop!

There's something yummy about dark brown and pink together...
