2010 Prom Dresses and Living Vicariously Through Celebrities

2010 Prom Dresses
Prom season 2010 is just about here, and it's been years..and years...and years since I've been in high school. I know that some of you who read my blog are still in high school, so I thought I'd share a few prom dresses that I like and would actually wear now if I had a fancy party to go to.

I was thinking about writing a post about trends for prom dresses or homecoming dresses, but if you know me by now, you'll understand when I say that trends don't exist in my world of fashion. If you love a dress and it feels comfortable to wear, then wear it!  However, I did read somewhere that the "glamorous" Hollywood look is "in" for 2010.

I'm sure many of you who watched the Oscars this past weekend were inspired by all the beautiful gowns the celebrities wore. Getting ready for prom is probably just as nerve-wracking as getting ready to walk down the red carpet. And although I don't see myself walking down the red carpet anytime soon, a girl can still dream and live vicariously through celebrities!

So, today I pretended that I was going to a fancy party and browsed through Promgirl.net, a site that has a wide variety of prom dresses, prom shoes, prom accessories, and homecoming gowns. A couple of the dresses I will be sharing here are not your traditional prom dresses with all the fu-fu frills. I think if I could do it all over again, I would have chosen a dress that I could wear more than once.

I immediately fell in love with this long, ivory pleated dress that accentuates the curves. It's available on the homecoming dresses page. This type of dress will make you look taller because of the long, horizontal pleats...

This "Clarisse" prom dress is something that you could wear even after the prom is over - like a spring wedding or a night on the town.  I love the print...

This next dress reminds of old Hollywood glamour - classic and elegant.  I especially love the embellishments...

Besides all of the gorgeous and affordable dresses that Promgirl.net has on their website, they also have articles and resources to help you look your best for that special night including makeup tips. They even have workout tips for the "prom perfect body".

My tip for looking your best at homecoming or prom night: Wear your dress with confidence! Feel confident about yourself and stop worrying about whether or not you look as pretty or as beautiful as someone else. And don't complain about how your hair didn't turn out the way you wanted to! Just focus on making it the best night ever...
