How to Really Wear Ugg Boots

Britney Spears wearing shorts and Ugg boots
When I worked at Nordstrom, which was about five years ago, everyone and their grandma wanted a pair of ugg-style boots. Honestly, I didn't know what the big deal was because we're in Southern California where the weather doesn't get cold enough to justify wearing these types of boots. However, I understand that there are people who want to look like Britney Spears with their daisy dukes and ugg boots. I even joked with a friend the other day who said she wanted a pair of ugg boots for her getaway trips to cold places.

"Are you going to buy daisy dukes with those boots too?" I asked jokingly.

"Yeah, I probably will just to spite you," she replied.

Ladies, please don't pull a Britney. I highly recommend reading these tips on what to wear with ugg boots from the Whooga ugg boots website. While you're there, make sure to educate yourself before investing in a pair of ugg boots. So much I didn't know!

One tip I might add: If you're going to wear a short skirt, make sure to wear the tallest style of ugg boots with a pair of leggings or tights. Wearing the short style with a skirt just looks unbalanced and tacky to me. I don't care if it's the latest "trend".

  1. I worked at Nordstrom a while back too, in the BP section and you're right. Everyone and their mothers was wearing Uggs. I'm hoping we get a new teen boot trend that's cute soon!

  2. I notice the Whooga blogger picked three women who are wearing long, fall and winter suitable coats with their Uggs as individuals who are wearing the style correctly. I guess the message is "Uggs are for cold weather". No surprise there! I do like the black ones better than the tan Uggs. They might look good with dark leggings and an oversized chambray shirt for a very casual look. I've just never seen anyone who can really dress up an Ugg. They're like Crocs in that way. Casual forever.

  3. I live in Canada where it is really cold in the winter with tons of snow. It always amazed me how many people wore Uggs in California when we'd visit Disneyland once a year and I didn't understand why. They look ridiculous with shorts on. The other thing about them is that I don't think they're made to walk around in the snow either. I see girls wearing them here in the winter and they get all dingy, gross, discoloured, wet-just nasty.

  4. UGGs are definitely a huge deal in Canada. They are my #1 footwear choice for the fall/winter months. But they can get pretty pricey for a student such as myself. So I like to use discount or complimentary coupons. My favourite one is from fabuloussavings.com. They have an exclusive deal with UGGs right now and it includes their new UGG Classic Short Sparkle Boot!

  5. I feel so conflicted about Uggs. When they first came out, I hated them with a burning passion. All the girls looked stocky and like they had cankles. I made fun of people who liked them.

Then, one day, I tried a pair on just to see what the hype was about. I felt like I was walking on clouds. After that, I began to see them in a new light. "Maybe they'd be cute with leggings..." and "They're just so warm!" and "This black pair isn't so bad..."

At the last Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, I snagged a pair of black leather Kensington Uggs. They look like motorcycle boots from the outside, but have the squishy cloud feet feeling on the inside. I wear them with black leggings and leopard print to tough them up a little.
