My Interpretation of the Color-Blocking Trend

Color Block Outfit

So I went shopping again this weekend for a colorful striped top for my Bloggers Do It Better outfit. Again, I didn't find anything that inspired me. I even tried on a few bright-colored tops to go with the FRAAS red scarf that was gifted to me from Lipton Publicity...and nothing. I guess it's just not my week for shopping...

Instead, I decided to pull something out of my closet. I thought this magenta-colored Shabby Apple dress would complement the red to create an elegant color-block look. I like this scarf because it's made of lightweight fabric and great for warm weather wardrobes.

To finish off the look I added a straw hat from Forever 21, sandals by Steve Madden, and a beaded bracelet from my own jewelry collection. I went for a natural makeup look and just wore lipgloss from Loreal's Never Fail Infallible collection in Plumped Pink.

  1. I actually love your dress!! The colour is just beautiful. Have to admit though I found this first assignment very challenging. I couldn't find anything great at the shops and I could only work with what I had in my wardrobe.

    @Norlin,
    I don't know why this challenge was difficult for me too! I guess I took it too seriously, plus I rarely wear bright colors together. Excited for the next challenge though!

    @Still Blonde,
    Thanks! These stairs in the backyard do make for a great backdrop.

    @Caitlin,
    Thank you :) I do need new pieces to add to the spring wardrobe, but this time around I couldn't find anything!

    @Ife': It is nice to save some money by pulling out stuff you haven't worn in awhile!

    @Nnenna: It is all in the details, huh? I'm going to have to wear this more often. I seem to have taken it for granted.

  9. The dress looks so modern and sophisticated. I love the ruffle in the front. Surprisingly that magenta color goes well with almost anything.

  10. Colour block fashion is one of the hottest new trends for the season. Generally a color blocked outfit will work best if you stick to the usual rules for your body shape.

  11. I'm one those women who was hesitant at first. Now, I'm loving color-blocking. I just keep textures to a minimum, and wear nude shoes. I have also learned to stick to same color pastels.
