Latest Obsession: Floral Dresses

Black and white floral print plus size dress
Right now I'm lovin' floral dresses. I've mentioned on several posts that I do love flowers, but I own only one floral dress at the moment. Back in the early 90's I had so many floral dresses, and I wish that I had kept all of them because many of the styles have made a comeback this year. I did go through that "grunge" phase, so those dresses ended up in a bag that was given to a thrift store for someone else to appreciate them.

So, just because it's fall doesn't mean you have to put away those floral dresses. You can segue those pretty dresses into a fabulous fall outfit with a pair of boots and a blazer or jean jacket. If it's a short dress, you can wear it with leggings, a short button-up sweater, and a pair of flats (or sandals if you live in Southern California). I’ve seen some fashionistas wear floral print with stripes and other prints, but my style is not so daring and bold.

A Positive Attitude Conquers All

So, who's excited about the new season of Dancing With the Stars? I've been watching it for a few years now, and I love all the dancing, music, and costumes. I've put ballroom dancing on my "bucket list" because I've been so inspired by the show.

This season one of the stars is J.R .Martinez who was an actor on All My Children and an Iraq war veteran who was severely burned when he hit a landmine. He's gone through 33 surgeries since the incident, but obviously he's still going strong. Most people would probably go through severe depression and hibernate in their home for the rest of their lives, but J.R. is a perfect example of what positivity can do for your life.

Fall 2011 Classic Jackets: Top 5 Picks

When I was working at Wet Seal, I was known as the “Jacket Queen”. I had enough jackets that warranted their own dedicated closet. (It was a small closet, ok!) I think the only reason why I love fall so much is because I can get that cozy feeling in a jacket.

So, of course I’m excited that fall is finally here. Well, in San Diego it’s not quite fall season weather, but at night it can get a little chilly in some parts of the city.

Every fall I usually buy a new jacket, so I spent some time today shopping the web. Here are my top 5 picks...

The Frustrations of Shopping For Plus Size and Big Mens Clothing

A store.Shopping with my best friend or my fiance can often be a challenge. Have you ever gone shopping and found something that you really like, but come to find out that it doesn't come in your size? Frustrating, right?

My best friend is plus size, so when we go shopping together, she will often like the same styles that I do, and although the clothing would probably flatter her body shape, it will only go up to a certain size. We've shopped at trendy stores like Forever 21 that does offer plus size clothing for women, but the selection isn't that good.

Skin Care Product Review: Kelly Teegarden Organics (KTO)

Kelly Teegarden Organics

How often do you really connect with a skincare or beauty brand? When I was at Cosmoprof Las Vegas last month, there were very few companies that stood out to me and Kelly Teegarden Organics was one of them. Everything from the company's booth display to the packaging of the products and Kelly's story truly resonated with me. Plus, I love purple and butterflies, so how could I not love this brand?

Favorite Looks From Donna Karan Spring 2012 Ready-to-Wear

When I was in high school I had dreams of moving to New York, working on Wall Street, and having a wardrobe full of DKNY clothing. I was going to live the true urban life. None of that happened because the dream has changed. Well, except for the part about having a closet full of DKNY clothing.

For a long time now, though, I have admired Donna Karan and her sense of style. Her Spring 2012 collection is no exception. The tribal prints that took over this year in the fashion world seem to have spilled over into spring as well.  Here are a couple of my favorite looks from the show...

The Nightie Has Officially Made Me a Woman

My cute new nightie
Today I was at KMart to buy some necessities and noticed a long row of $4.99 sale racks outside.  Of course the bargain hunter in me was itching to see if there was anything to be had.  I ended up finding a cute light blue tube top nightie with these colorful hearts on it.

After putting on the new nightie tonight, I've decided to say goodbye to the t-shirt and sweats night time uniform for good.  Well, even if I wanted to, I couldn't even sleep in t-shirt and sweats because of the summer heat wave we've been having here in San Diego.  It's actually tempted me to just sleep naked.  I'm sure my guy would love that!

New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2012 Collections: Favorites So Far

"I think trends have trended out."

John Patrick of Organic was quoted in Style.com, which just posted a review of his latest collection for Spring/Summer New York Fashion Week.

Ah, yes, NYFW is back! Although I can't participate in the festivities (I'll live vicariously through my NY fashion blogger friends), I always get a little giddy and excited around this time of year. It's about the only time I log onto Style.com to check out runway photos and find inspiration for articles.

Your Face Will Love You For This

Besides drinking water, one of the best things you can do to maintain a healthy, youthful glow is to get a facial or give yourself a facial on a regular basis. This is especially true if you've been doing alot of traveling this summer. When you travel, you're exposed to different climates, which can dry out your skin and/or clog up your pores.

I don't know about you, but I really enjoy giving myself a facial. So you can understand my excitement in receiving the new Rosemary & Herb Facial Steam Syrup from Shea Terra Organics.
