Creative Bridesmaid Gift Ideas

Creative Bridesmaids Gift Ideas

Summer is a busy season for weddings and I’m sure this summer is no different. Although all the attention will be on the bride, it's the bridesmaids who are working behind the scenes offering support and help for the big day. Don’t you think they deserve a great gift to show appreciation for making that special day complete?

Here are a few creative bridesmaids gifts that will make the wedding even more memorable...

Personalized tote bags - Instead of giving the same exact gift, buy tote bags embroidered with each bridesmaid’s initials and fill them with treats and goodies that they love - like their favorite chocolate and gift certificates to that yummy cupcake shop in the city. If the wedding is at the beach, create a “beach survival kit” and fill the tote with magazines, sunscreen, a towel, and a bathing suit cover.

My Secret to Getting Beauty Products For Less

I have to admit that I’m pretty frugal when it comes to shopping for quality beauty supplies. I rarely buy anything at the salon or department store, and when I shop in stores like Target, I’ll buy a product only if it’s on sale. I just don’t see why I should pay full retail price for stuff that I know I could get somewhere else much cheaper - like discount beauty supply stores.

Skincare Is For Men Too (Shield For Men Review)

If you've been reading this blog for awhile, you know that I'm pretty particular when it comes to skincare products. I'm very conscious about what goes on my body because I know that all the stuff you put on your skin does get soaked up by the body and affects your overall health. Why do you think skin cancer is such an epidemic in our society today?

I've been encouraging everyone in my life to use natural or organic products - especially my fiance who still continues to use a few products that contain toxic chemicals. He's stayed away from my products because of the "girly" scents, and when I tell him to try something out, he asks, "Does it have glitter in it?"

Fashion Games Now, Famous Designer of the Future

Online fashion game

When I was a little girl I loved dressing my Barbies and playing with those paper dolls just to change their outfits. I had more fun putting together outfits than actually playing with the Barbies. My mom even bought this Barbie closet for me to keep all the clothes organized. So It’s no wonder I grew up wanting to work in the fashion industry. Although I got my degree in Psychology because I thought that was what I was supposed to do, I was still drawn to fashion and style.

Nowadays I’m writing about fashion, but that doesn’t stop the little girl in me that loves to play games - especially those related to dress-up and style. The first thing my best friend’s daughter wants to do when I visit them is play dress-up games online. I had no idea there were so many different games out there! There are sites like iPlay where you can download games that will entertain you - games like “The Fashion Boutique”, “The Stylist”, and a whole host of makeup and fashion games. For those of you “big girls” - did you know that InStyle has the “Instant STYLIST” game?

Everyday Outfit: Comfortable Yet Stylish

Some people think working at home on the internet is glamorous, and yes, it is nice and I love having the flexibility to work anywhere in the world, but the only thing is that I tend to find myself in a clothing rut - wearing pajamas or sweats all day. It's comfortable, but I don't feel productive at all. I believe that there is truth to that saying, "Dress for success", and it applies to everybody who works at home too.

Florals Are Back

Current/Elliott Stiletto Floral Skinny Jeans

Ok, florals always come back every spring and summer, so pull out last year’s florals from the back of the wardrobe – or go straight to this summer’s must-haves.

Start off with these Current/Elliott Stiletto Skinny Jeans in Haystack Floral – they’ll keep your legs dry, but are a firm nod to summer with their dusty hues. The muted floral pattern is subtle enough to pair with a pastel chiffon blouse for an elegant look, which is perfect for drinks on your friend’s rooftop terrace, or the barbecue that might end up indoors.

Men's Summer Fashion Tips For Work

Men's long-sleeve button up shirt

I don't post very much about men's fashion, but in honor of Father's Day, I'd like to share a few men's fashion tips for work...I'm a sucker for a dapper-looking man in a nice shirt and tie!

However, first off I'd like to say that you should definitely consider donating to a charity shop any clothing that you haven't worn in at least 6 months. Any tatty or worn clothing should go to charity as well - unless it is beyond repair, then you should throw it away.

Put into suitable storage all your heavy, dark winter clothes and make way for the brighter summer pieces you should be thinking about buying by now. Thick patterned clothing will be replaced by lighter, solid colours with hardly any patterns – this applies mostly to designer shirts.

A New Jewelry Collection In the Making

I'm really excited about relaunching my handcrafted jewelry business soon. As much as I have loved helping clients with their blogging and social media, the artsy, creative side of me is itching to make a comeback.

I spent Saturday shopping for new beads and finding inspiration for a new fall collection. I want to come up with pieces that are truly unique and somewhat edgy. Lately I've been gravitating toward an "industrial" style - abstract and modern. I've been seeing alot of copper-colored jewelry and love the look of it.

Dressing For Your Figure

Moulin prom dress

Do you have a hard time finding a summer dress that flatters your figure? There are five different body shapes, so knowing your body type will help you choose dresses that look good on you...

1) Apple
An apple shape is someone who tends not to have a particularly well-defined waist. However, it is extremely common for members of this group to have fantastic breasts or legs or both. Therefore, it is important to show off these features. The gorgeous evening dress to the right would be perfect for someone of an apple shape, as it creates a subtle waistline. The vertical stripes also elongate the body of the wearer, balancing out the width of the wearer.

Seaweed Bath Co. Review: Wildly Natural Seaweed Shampoo

Ever since I can remember I have dealt with a flaky, itchy scalp. I have tried many dandruff shampoos that you find in stores like Walmart or Target, but the only shampoo that has really worked for me is Head & Shoulder's Clinical Strength. I'd like to get away from using it because it contains sulfates, which may be the cause of my hair loss.

Losing Weight vs Being Healthy

Feet on weight scale

Have you been trying to lose weight for awhile with no results? I know many women who have been in this predicament. They’ve tried everything to shed that extra weight, but nothing seems to work. They’ve dieted, exercised, and went through weight loss programs, but to no avail.

I believe that women don’t have any success with weight loss because they’ve become obsessed with it. They constantly talk about how they “need to” lose the pounds and how everything they are doing is not working. What they don’t understand is that the words they are saying are powerful and being in that mindset of having to lose weight is blocking their success.

Burberry's Effortless Beauty

British models Cara Delevingne, Jourdan Dunn and Edie Campbell for Burberry beauty campaign summer 2012

Burberry's beauty campaign for summer 2012 is being described as "effortless elegance". I completely agree. As a beauty blogger, I receive many emails and go through tons of press releases, but this latest campaign caught my eye because the makeup looks so beautiful and natural on the models.
