New Fall 2012 Jewelry Collection In the Making

Mixed Metal Washer Dangle Earrrings

I can't believe that September is right around the corner!

I'm very excited about fall because it's my favorite season of the year, so it's only fitting that I relaunch my jewelry shop on Etsy next month. For the past couple months I've been working on a new fall jewelry collection that I'm calling "Industrial Chic".

Classic, Everyday Fashion For the Curvy Woman

Today I came across Simply Be's Pinterest page, which has some beautiful black and white photos from their Runway Collection. My favorite photo is the one shown above. I wish I had the bangs to duplicate that look!

By the way, if you haven't been exposed to the addiction called Pinterest, let me warn you now...

Browsing through Simply Be's boards, I was inspired to share my classic fashion picks for those of you who have a curvy-licious, bodacious body:

NuFace Trinity Review: Day 1

Carol Cole demonstrates NuFace trinity
Carol Cole demonstrates the NuFace Trinity

As I get older, I'm realizing just how important it is to start young when it comes to skin care. If I could give advice to my 20-year-old self, I would tell her to always keep your face moisturized and use the right skin care products. Another piece of advice I would share is to go to the spa for a facial at least once a month and invest in skincare technology like the NuFace trinity device.

One of the best ways to always look young - besides exercise and eating healthy - is to be mindful of taking care of your skin even before you start seeing all the lines, wrinkles, and sags. Just remember that everything you do now to your skin will have long-term effects.

Your face has muscles in it, and just like any muscle in your body, these facial muscles have to be exercised and renewed. What the NuFace device does is send micro-currents into your face to help regenerate the cells and restore the muscles to their original state while helping to reduce lines and even out the skin tone.

Fashion and Beauty Blogging Isn't About Being Popular

A recent "off" day in the style department

A post by Jess of Feeling Stylish inspired this post...

When I first started this blog back in 2005, my intention was to inspire women to discover and enhance their inner beauty. I want women to know that it's their unique style, confidence, and how they take care of their bodies is what makes them beautiful. To this day, I still hold the same intention. That is my focus.

I've seen many other fashion and beauty blogs come and go. I don't know what the aspirations were with their blogs or why some bloggers stopped posting, but I can assume that they didn't get the readers that they had hoped for or they were not able to successfully monetize the blog.

Stylin' at the Del Mar Horse Races

The weather has certainly taken a turn towards hotness in my corner of the earth. Well, for us San Diegans, it's hot! Even at the Del Mar horse racing track, which is only a block from the ocean, we could feel the sun beating down on us. The day called for a light, flowy outfit topped with a wide brim hat.

5 Ways to Save Time on Your Beauty Routine

Woman washing her face
When it comes to getting ready in the morning, it seems as if there is never enough time to do everything we want to. This is especially true if you have kids who need help getting ready for school and breakfast to cook for the family. As someone who prefers a no-fuss beauty routine, here are some of my personal tips for saving time on your beauty routine...

1. Use 2-in-1 beauty products. Not only will you save time, but you'll save money too. Try a tinted lip balm that can double as blush for your cheeks. Instead of using a moisturizer, sunscreen, and then putting on foundation, use a tinted moisturizer that contains SPF. I also like to use my blush as eye shadow.

2. When it comes to shaving my underarms and legs, I am very lazy. Waxing at home takes time and can get a little messy too. You can try places like Urbana laser hair removal for specialized waxing services that keep the hair off for weeks. If you do go with laser hair removal, typically you will only have to shave your underarms or legs once a month versus shaving every other day. Another benefit of waxing or laser hair removal is that you'll have smoother skin.

The Latest Fashion Statement: Eyeglasses

Russell Westbrook's fashion statement

Back in the day, wearing eyeglasses meant that you: 1) needed to see what you were reading or 2) you actually needed help with blurry vision. Nowadays, wearing eyeglasses is a fashion statement. The big “nerdy” glasses have been a trend for some time now. I find it amusing to see NBA players like Russell Westbrook sporting eyeglasses that match their outfits.

Personally, I’ve been wearing the same eyeglasses for nine years now because I just haven’t found a pair that I really like to replace them. I do wear them because I am nearsighted and as a fashion statement. They are DKNY “cat’s eye” glasses that I will probably keep forever and put away as a collector’s item in the future. As you can see, they give me that “smart teacher” look - at least I think they do!

Good Health Is Inner Beauty

What's more important than the latest anti-aging beauty product or those fancy Louboutin's? Hopefully your answer is being healthy :) Part of your inner beauty is making sure to take care of your body. I know I've probably said this a few times before, but I feel compelled to post another reminder...

One of the things I've been working on as part of my beauty regimen is to be more consistent with exercise and eating healthy foods. I've made a commitment to work out at least three times a week. I've also been more conscious of the type of foods I eat and reading labels on packaged foods to make sure they don't contain toxins or additives.

I have a few friends who currently have cancer and one friend who just passed away from cancer. Although there are many things that can be attributed to cancer, I'm pretty sure that the combination of eating unhealthy foods and lack of exercise is one of the main reasons so many people have cancer nowadays. High fructose corn syrup, nitrates, sulfates, hormones, and pesticides are essentially poisons that you're putting in your body. Think about the cumulative effects. Why do that to yourself?

The Sweet Touch of Vintage Wedding Fashion

Vintage inspired dresses

I still have yet to meet a woman who doesn’t appreciate vintage clothing. The vintage style sounds so sweet and many brands tend to produce styles with a vintage touch. The brand name of vintage inspired styles by Nataya is already known and appreciated by many vintage inspired indie, and alternative brides. Regardless of their casual styles or lifestyles, there are many women who love to wear something really whimsical and sophisticated.

So What If Victoria Beckham Is Skinny?

Victoria Beckham featured in Sept 2012 Glamour Magazine

Victoria Beckham is featured in Glamour Magazine's September 2012 issue as the cover star and guest editor - a job I wouldn't mind having!

The magazine posted the picture to the right on their Facebook page where it has received quite a few comments - mostly positive, but a few have noted how Victoria looks "too skinny".
