eating healthy and exercise contributes to your overall beauty. So with all these recent reports about the flu going around again, I want to stress the importance of focusing on your health. After all, what's the point of looking good on the outside if the inside doesn't feel good?
Not too long ago I offered a few natural remedies for the flu and cold, but I didn't mention taking vitamins. I should be one to talk because I'm not very consistent when it comes to taking vitamins, but it's something I really should be on top of since I'm on this journey to pregnancy.
Are Vitamin Supplements Necessary?
I am by no means a nutritionist, but common sense tells me that vitamins are present in the majority of the foods we eat, and our body needs vitamins to be healthy. If you consistently eat whole foods that contain all the vitamins you need, then perhaps you don’t need supplements. However, most of the time that is not the case, so vitamin supplements are there to fill in the gaps left from our diets.
Especially now with the flu virus doing its rounds, you may want to consider taking more vitamin C and D either through your diet or by taking supplements. If you prefer to increase your intake of fruits and vegetables instead, I would highly recommend juicing. My favorite juice combination is oranges, green apples, celery, and cucumbers. Mmmmmm! Last year when I started to experience flu symptoms my fiance put this concoction together, which helped tremendously.
Vitamins Are Not a Cure All
Everyone’s bodies are different, so a cold and flu remedy that works for you may not work for everyone else. However, what I do know for sure is that you can’t eat junk food, take vitamins, and then just expect to be healthy. Maintaining good health and preventing sickness takes a combination of eating the right foods, exercising, and taking supplements, if any.
If you’re unsure about what vitamins are lacking in your body, you may consider seeing a nutritionist or a physician.
