Recently I reorganized my closet so that I could pack away and store my winter clothes - mainly boots and sweaters. The very next day I wake up and it’s gloomy and cold outside. Go figure! However, there were a few light sweaters that I keep readily available exactly for this reason. Having summer sweaters does seem paradoxical, but there are many places and situations in which a sweater is much needed.
Sweater For the Coffee Shop or Office
I enjoy working at my local Starbucks, but during the summer many of the shops blast the air conditioning, which leaves me feeling brrrrr. I’m sure many of you work in buildings that make your cubicles feel like ice boxes. That’s why I always make sure to pack a light sweater in my messenger bag. My next purchase will be a featherweight cashmere sweater like the one pictured to the right that can be worn with just about any outfit.
If you live in a beach city like I do, you’re probably familiar with the marine layer effect in the mornings. Even in places like Miami or Hawaii you’ll experience the occasional afternoon drizzle. It would be nice have a crochet sweater handy to throw on if you experience a slight chill.
Summer Nights In the City
In most places you can feel cool breezes, especially in the city during the summer. Summer is a time for weddings, and many of them are at night, so a nice sweater jacket, shrug or bolero is a must. I like this sophisticated jacket-style black and white textured cardigan, which is almost Chanel-esque.
My go-to sweater regardless of season is the button-up sweater because it can be worn with just about any outfit. I also like the v-neck cardigan sweater, which can be styled with a pair of jeans, a pencil skirt, or even a maxi skirt. I have a long olive colored v-neck button-up cardigan sweater that I wear with a tank top and a thin belt over it to accentuate my waist and avoid looking frumpy.
