The weather in San Diego has been AWESOME this summer. Except for one week in June when it was slightly scorching, it's been perfect. Ladies, you know how humid summer weather can do a number on your hair, especially if it's long. I've given my hair a break by putting it up with no blow drying or hair products - except for a little gel and dry oil.
As I've said before, I used to buy cheap shampoos and conditioners until I read about the dangerous effects of Sodium Lauryl Sulfate(SLS) and Sodium Laureth Sulfate(SLES). My hair used to shed constantly, and I thought it was just a normal process, but in retrospect I realize that it was probably because of those toxic shampoos and conditioners I was using. If you've been reading my blog for awhile, you're probably tired of me saying this, but it bears repeating: I highly recommend using natural or organic hair products.
If you take care of your hair, your hair will take care of you!
For the past couple months I've been trying out Natural Essentials' Nourishing Shampoo and Conditioner which are free of sulfates, parabens, drying alcohol, phthalates, gluten, and artificial colors. I also occasionally use the Natural Essentials Strengthening Dry Oil, which is for normal to dry hair. All of their products are over 90% natural.
Here is the list of ingredients taken from the shampoo bottle:
If you're allergic to fragrances, these products are probably not for you. If you're OK with scented hair products and you want your man to snuggle up to you, then try this shampoo and conditioner out. My fiance says my hair smells like coconut, which he loves.
I only use about a quarter size of each product, which goes a long way. The shampoo and conditioner do keep my hair nourished from the roots all the way to the ends. I can even wear my hair "au natural" without using a flat iron.
One day I was walking across the street and a lady walking beside me exclaimed, "Oh, my gosh, your hair is so beautiful and shiny!"
"Oh, wow, thank you!" I gushed. I have never received a compliment like that, so there you go - confirmation that these are pretty good products!
