Self Esteem Boost: Go On a Date With Yourself

The first thing I do when getting ready for a date...

You could spend the weekend browsing online dating sites....or you could go on a date with yourself. A date with myself?!? Yes, we often spend so much time trying to find someone to date or nagging our boyfriends, husbands, girlfriends, or wives to take us out on a date, yet we've forgotten how to make a date with ourselves.

I know that some people are hesitant about going out by themselves. They think that other people will look at them weird or with pity, especially if they're sitting alone at a restaurant. I think this may be more of an issue for women than men, though I could be wrong.

Because I'm such an independent person, I have no problem going out by myself anywhere. In fact, I highly recommend you set a date with yourself at least once a month. Whether it's eating at a restaurant, visiting a museum, or having a picnic at the park, do something that allows you to just be alone with your thoughts. Getting to know yourself boosts your self-esteem.

My fiance and I have been together for 16 years, and we still go on regular dates. It's interesting to see, though, how much dating has changed over the years. The online dating scene is completely foreign to me. However, if I ever do find myself single in my Golden years and living in the UK, it's nice to know that there are services for mature dating in UK on, and you can join for free.

So what do you when you go on a date with yourself? Pamper yourself and get ready like you would a regular date!

Today I decided to check out the annual ArtWalk to soak up some creative vibes. And just like any date, I made sure to give my nails a fresh coat of paint. I didn't buy any flowers for myself, but there were plenty of beautiful rose bushes in the area where ArtWalk took place, so of course I had stop and enjoy them.

My fiance ended up coming home early from work, so my date with myself actually ended up being a date with him. It was a very warm day, so I put my hair up in a bun and wore my favorite and oh, so comfortable brown linen shorts I got from Old Navy several years ago along with a navy blue tank top I picked up at Walmart for $1 during a road trip to Arizona last year.

If you've never asked yourself out on a date, try it out. I'm sure you'll have fun :)
